On August 28, 2023, we welcomed with great excitement a momentous occasion—the structural topping-out of the Suzhou Xiangcheng Jiaotou R&D Industrial Park project! From the initial design phase to its official commissioning, we have continuously learned, improved, and innovated throughout this endeavor, earning recognition and support from all sectors of society. This successful topping-out marks an important milestone. The efforts we have invested in this project are reflected not only in its design and execution but also in our deep passion for it and the dedication we have poured into its success.

The Suzhou Xiangcheng Jiaotou R&D Industrial Park project aims to become a modern, integrated service center that seamlessly combines investment, financing, construction, management, and operations. It is dedicated to the development and operation of new energy technologies, smart parking, smart water management, cutting-edge engineering maintenance techniques, investment and development, as well as the research and application of innovative building materials and digital testing technologies. The park will be designed to harmoniously integrate with the urban landscape, offering a comfortable and high‑quality office environment.

The Jiaotou R&D Industrial Park project is located on the west side of Jinzhuan Road and the south side of Anyuan Road in Yuanhe Subdistrict. The site covers approximately 20.04 mu, with a total floor area of 56,734.32 square meters. The project comprises a 16‑story tower and a stepped‑back podium. Its primary functions include a bus terminal, testing and laboratory facilities, and office space.

Scheme Evolution
The project begins with an urban design perspective, determining the building’s massing in response to its functional requirements. Throughout the design process, multiple alternatives were evaluated and refined through hand‑crafted scale models, while carefully considering factors such as the building’s street‑facing façade, its exhibition‑oriented aspect, and the company’s corporate ethos of sincerity, excellence, and continuous improvement. These considerations culminated in the final massing configuration and spatial layout.

Design Point One

Integrating into the urban space:

On the west side of the project site, along the Pingmentang greenbelt, multi‑storey buildings predominate to ensure an enhanced visual landscape. Grounded in the city’s spatial and aesthetic development strategy, the stepped podium is positioned on the western edge adjacent to Pingmentang, creating a gentle elevation gradient that rises from the water’s edge on the west to a 16‑storey tower on the east. This design seamlessly integrates the scenic views of Pingmentang into the industrial park, allowing the entire complex to harmoniously blend with the surrounding waterside landscape. Roof greening is conceived as an integral component of the ecological system, fostering mutual permeation with the surrounding natural environment and significantly enhancing both the site and the urban context. The result is a comprehensive green infrastructure that balances vibrancy and tranquility, openness and enclosure, public and private realms, and ground‑level and aerial spaces—cultivating a lifestyle that is distinctive, leisurely, and contemporary.

Design Point Two

A beautiful office environment:

Create a beautifully designed office environment that stimulates local economic development, fostering an inviting, distinctive office‑and‑R&D community. By comprehensively balancing social and environmental benefits, enhance the site’s economic returns, ensuring the project meets key criteria: rational functional organization, appropriate land use allocation, clear spatial structure, smooth circulation, and comprehensive supporting facilities. The result will be a transit hub that respects the environment, offers a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing setting, and embodies both distinct local character and a contemporary spirit.

Design Point Three

Modern architectural style:

The architectural style emphasizes modernity and simplicity. The main buildings of the industrial park feature white and blue glass curtain walls, complemented by vertical curtain‑wall paneling that imparts a sense of verticality and dynamism. The staggered volumes of the podium further enliven the composition.

In summary, our design objective is to create the Xiangcheng Jiaotou R&D Industrial Park—a project that boasts a high-quality environment, prioritizes safety and environmental sustainability, offers comprehensive functional amenities, and features a simple yet sophisticated architectural form.
